DES ROCS
What can I even say about this show….WOW. That’s where I will start. My mind was absolutely blown when I saw Des Rocs live.
I had been listening to this filthy rock n’ roller for a little over a year prior to seeing him tear the stage up at the El Rey in Los Angeles, CA about a month ago. Visually, Des Rocs presents with a Bob Dylan meets Elvis vibe and has the stage presence of Freddy Mercury. He has a wicked HEAVY blues presence that is driving and captivating. Blues plays a heavy role in rock to me, so I think when I come across an artist like this it’s a truly special experience. He is absolutely one of a kind, with a remarkably unique voice and there is no question in the passion he has, as it controls the stage so purely. He is one of those artists that doesn’t just go out an play, he leaves his soul on the stage every time. Performing is clearly what he was made to do. He is a classic pure and simple.
He was opening for The Glorious Sons the night I saw him. But that wasn’t the best part of it for me, the best part was the diversity in the crowd, and knowing that whether or not they’d heard of Des Rocs before they would all be rocking and rolling together shortly. It was no surprise that the crowd ate up his performance as it truly is something that you have to see. When he was playing I felt as if this was what I have been missing. You see, I am one of the many that feel they were born in the wrong decade. What I would give to see any of the classics live, go to Woodstock, just be able to look at the stars and listen to a little Pink Floyd live. I know I’m not the only one, but when Des Rocs was on stage giving his soul to us I couldn’t help but feel as if in that exact moment I was experiencing exactly what I thought I had been missing out on my whole life. Truly a one of a kind artist and performance and I cannot wait to see him headline his own tour. He has already opened for The Rolling Stones, and played numerous big festivals. He is a remarkable artist I would gladly follow around the world.
